The Wings lost on Friday and won on Sunday and there are three games left in the regular season. If the Wings get one more point, they win the President's Trophy for the sixth time. No other team has won it more than two times. Winning the President's will guarantee home-ice throughout Detroit's Cup run--always an advantage.
I have no idea if thats a good or a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteNot that you asked :), but having home ice can be a very big advantage. After all, the team does all of their practices on the home ice, so they know how the puck bounces off of the boards and any other quirks there happen to be. Teams usually do better at home, but it isn't always the case. One team this year--it might be San Jose, but I could be wrong--actually did better on the road than at home. So, it probably is just as much of a psychological advantage as an actual one. But an advantage a team wants, nonetheless!
