Things You DON'T Need To Hear

I had to stop at my internist's office to have my blood pressure checked and overheard a phone conversation that I didn't need to hear. Actually, the woman had the exact same conversation with two different people. And here is what she said:

"Well, he took away one of her pills that might be causing her diarrhea. But, of course, she doesn't eat enough to form a normal bowel movement."

WHY, WHY, WHY would someone feel the need to let the entire waiting room in a doctor's office know these intimate details about another person? Sometimes I think we were done a very big disservice with the invention of cell phones.

Wow. And I thought I was inappropriate. I feel really classy right about now

  2. Granted, my conversations aren't always quiet/personal, but I NEVER have revealed another person's medical problems in public. And to top it all off, I then MET the woman with the 'problems' when I was leaving the office! :)

  3. When I worked at the hospital we had a time of intense "privacy" issues. At that time a sign showed up in the break room where historically a LOT of patient issue conversations had been taking place, that said "SHUT YOUR BIG MOUTH".
Because of some of the conversations between nurses regarding patients, I thought it was appropriate.

  4. Unfortunately these days, the privacy violations seem to come from family members or others close to the patient. Some people just don't understand boundaries, I guess.

Being In a Funk

I'm still having a bit of a funk going on in my life. To be expected, I guess. But, it REALLY is affecting me to see my best friend ...
