Ducks

In the infinite wisdom of the powers that be, wetlands are being constructed everywhere. We have at least two within a couple of blocks of us--one borders the local medical center. Not only do these swamps bring TONS of mosquitoes and other bugs, but ducks make them their home. Tonight we went to feed the ones at the medical center. Sadly, the young ones are almost as big as the parents already. We saw at least a dozen ducks, but I could only get a picture of five in a group.

  1. Love the photos!

And is it just me, or do the mosquitoes seem to be out of control this year?

  2. So much of the natural world is out of control this year. The mosquitoes, the bears, and we have had SWARMS of ants and spiders to contend with! I REALLY have to find one of the 'old-timers' to explain what this all means. Probably and extremely long and cold winter. :/

  3. Isn't that just ducky!

As for the mosquitoes, try living here in south-central Florida in the summer... Voracious is the only word I can use to describe them!

  4. Mosquitoes are considered the UP's 'state' bird. I think I would put the black fly up there in terms of annoyance and numbers with mosquitoes, though. Voracious here, too.

Being In a Funk

I'm still having a bit of a funk going on in my life. To be expected, I guess. But, it REALLY is affecting me to see my best friend ...
