What's a tortini?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I can come up with is that it is a misspelling. I THINK it is supposed to be 'tortoni' which is an ice cream dessert. Here is one definition that I found:
ReplyDeleteTortoni was originally an ice cream filled cake, made with Italy's wonderful gelato. It has evolved to mean a scoop of ice cream with lots of additions, most notably crushed cookies, whipped cream, and nuts.
If anyone else knows what 'tortini' is, let us know in the comments. From what I can tell, sometimes it seems as if the two words are used to mean the same thing.
Kept looking and found THIS definition:
ReplyDeleteTortini means "little cakes" in Italian (from the word "torta", meaning "cake").
Which basically means it can be just about anything, from cupcakes to pie to quiche.
Some Tortini can be like savoury puddings, only with cream and sometimes, flour, added, and then either baked or fried on top of the stove, like a frittata for example.
Some can be a pie, savoury or sweet, with or without a top crust.
Or, Tortini can be essentially a quiche, or an apple pie.
I like that Quirky Alone Day! while everyone else is celebrating Valentine's Day, I can celebrate being quirky and alone. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like that you have your head screwed on right! :D
ReplyDeleteValentine's Day just keeps getting harder for me every year. Basically, it is a day for women to get gifts, so I never know what to do for the hubby. But, I CAN'T NOT give him something, so I have to come up with an idea every year--just ANOTHER day I have to figure out what he might like. :)
